HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU HAVE YOUR ROOF INSPECTED?

YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR ROOF INSPECTED ABOUT EVERY 5 YEARS TO CHECK FOR ANY NEEDED MAINTENANCE.  IF YOU ARE IN AN AREA THAT HAS HAD A RECENT STORM AND ARE CONCERNED YOU COULD HAVE STORM DAMAGE, YOU SHOULD GET YOUR ROOF INSPECTED IMMEDIATELY.  QUALITY ROOFERS WILL OFFER A FREE NO OBLIGATION INSPECTION.

BE WARY OF ANYONE ASKING YOU TO SIGN SOMETHING IN ORDER FOR THEM TO BE ALLOWED TO HELP YOU WITH AN INSURANCE CLAIM.  IT’S NOT NEEDED AND NOT HONEST.  ONLY SIGN DOCUMENTS WHEN YOU HIRE A ROOFER.

WHAT TYPE OF ROOFING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

ASPHALT COMPOSITE SHINGLE – Most residential roofs are asphalt composite shingles.  These have a wide variety of warranties, colors, styles and prices.  In many residential neighborhoods you are required to get approval from your HOA on the color choice before you replace your roof.

METAL ROOFING – This is a step up in quality, longevity and price.  it comes in a variety of panel types, colors and accessories.  this can range anywhere from something you would see on a country barn to the most elaborate church.

STONE COATED STEEL – Is a beautiful and much pricier option.  It is extremely durable and comes in a multitude of colors and styles.  One of the greatest advantages to this type of roofing, besides its durability and its aesthetics.  Even though the panels are metal they can have the look of other roofing materials, such as asphalt shingles, clay tiles or even shake shingles.

CLAY TILES – People have been mining clay and firing it into tiles for roofing their houses for centuries.  Clay is extremely durable and lasts a very long time.  This roofing material is very heavy and requires a roof that can structurally support its weight.  It also comes in a variety of styles and shapes.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?

The actual time it takes for a crew to put on a basic asphalt roof is normally just a few days, depending on the size of the roof. Other materials can require more time and also depend on the scope of the project. Special roofing materials such as stone coated steel, clay tiles and metal panels require crews who specialize in that specific type of roofing. It is important to discuss the dates for starting and completing your project.  Always keep in mind the effect that weather plays in any roofing project’s timeline.
